From a winemaking perspective, the 2019 ’29 Estate’ Cabernet Sauvignon was an absolute pleasure to craft. Its classic Napa Cabernet characters of black currants, cassis and violets all shine through while integrated, tight grain French oak contributes to the espresso, chocolate and clove flavors on the palate. The wine is velvety in texture with richness and concentration that match its aromatic intensity. The tannins are round and supple and the finish carries for what feels like minutes. A true example of power and finesse, the 2019 ’29 Estate’ Cabernet Sauvignon will age flawlessly for over two decades.

Lush red and black cherry and plum are complimented by notes of dried rose petal, orange pekoe tea, truffle and damp forest floor. Precise oak influence adds sandalwood and toffee notes that are complimented by a hint of earthiness and a silk, creamy texture. The 2020 CRU Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is our smallest production since its inception in 2004. The wine itself, however, is one of the biggest, most powerful expressions of Napa Valley Cabernet that we’ve crafted to date. Darker in profile than most vintages, the 2020 possesses blackberry and boysenberry aromas complimented by hints of pencil shavings and cocoa powder. Youthful and vibrant upon entry with richness throughout, superb concentration, balanced acidity and firm tannins leading to a long, mouth watering finish.

Big, bold and beautiful are a few words that best describe the 2020 CRU St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon. Chocolate covered espresso bean, wet tobacco leaf, dried lavender and hints of roasted meat lead way to a massive entry, concentrated mid-palate, richness and power throughout and a firm tannin profile. The 2020 has the intensity of our estate Cabernets due to the low yielding crop, tiny berries and thick skins. Extracted and full-bodied, this St. Helena Cabernet is crafted to be enjoyed upon release but it will also lay down and drinks more expensive than its $95 price point.
